Marco Villiger

Marco Villiger is the owner and Managing Partner of MV Sports Consulting. For more than a decade, Marco Villiger has been a senior sports industry leader providing strategic leadership across the areas of legal, governance and commercial. In his former roles as Deputy Secretary General of FIFA and at the same time as General Counsel of FIFA, Marco Villiger has a deep understanding and appreciation for the specification of the global sports landscape both at the international and domestic levels. Over many years, Marco Villiger led FIFA’s Legal, Finance, Commercial, and HR Divisions managing and executing the day to day business. Marco Villiger has been prominently involved in the planning and implementation of the various phases of FIFA’s reform process launched since 2011 and was appointed a member of the 2016 FIFA Reform Committee. He also was a Member of the Evaluation Task Force in charge of evaluating the bids for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Today, Marco Villiger is the owner and CEO of MV Sports Consulting in Zurich, advising mainly the sports industry on commercial and legal challenges. Marco Villiger is also teaching at the University of Zurich (LL.M international business law and CAS Inhouse Counsel).
